Week 6 - Thing 15

Creative commons is a neat idea and there is a wealth of information out there about how to circumvent copyright infringements. I looked at the Yahoo - "Wanna Share" site and a couple of others. This looks like a good reference resource when needed.
I also tried Lawrnce Lessig's blog and he has good info. but very dry reading.
I may use these places more when needed but time to move onward.

Week 6 - Thing 14

Technorati is ok but seems to send me in circles. Same information different directions to get there. Not bad - always good to have another door to enter.

Week 6 - Thing 13 cont.

Ok - I have tried adding Del.icio.us as a gadget to my blog but it's not working. More frustration!

Week 6 - Thing 13

I surfed around in Del.icio.us for a while and found some neat bookmarks. One in particular was a free, full-text book site. I set up my Del.icio.us account so I could add it to my bookmarks but the setup failed because I don't have authority to do something like this. Very frustrating!
So, I added the site to my favorites instead.
I also subscribed to the Del.icio.us RSS feeds! Cool beans!

I'm not sure that tagging will be of much use but I'll explore further.

TTFN!

Week 5 - Thing 12

Yesterday I "rolled my own" site: "Words to Live By". It is still rudimentary but I will most likely add to it in the future. I can see a use for this type of site. I've even added it to my favorites - along with a number of other sites.

Week 5 - Thing 11

I just surfed some Nings. These look like fun, but I did not join one or create one as I barely have time to do the things I "need" to do. I'm not much on internet socializing right now - probably connected to my distaste for text messaging in some way. I don't see much educational value for these right now. Maybe later.

Week 5 - Thing 10

I did this using Image Chef. It was pretty simple once I got past the initial mistakes. This is something I can use in a lot of ways.

Here is the site: http://www.imagechef.com/ - Try it out for yourself!

Week 4 - Thing 9

There's a lot of information out there! TMI!! I'm feeling overwhelmed. Eventually, I hope to have time to truly sort through some of the feeds available and find those I will use more for the classroom than just for me.

Week 3 - Thing 7

Okay - so the next thing I'm going to try is to download a pic from my digital camera to my blog and to flickr. So far, everything I've used has been already downloaded to my hard drive. Wish me luck!

Week 4 - Thing 8 continued

Check out the bottom of my blog! I have listed my RSS Feeds and Podcast - so far! I've also added some items to the side. Way cool!

Week 4 - Thing 8

Okay - I see that I already have a Google Reader account set up. When did I do that? I am stuck - how do I find the RSS feeds to add? Do I just surf around until I find something I like and hope it has a "subscribe" button? Help!
I did manage to subscribe to Ask.com Blog and Web 2.0 but I'm static from there!

Wait! Stop the Presses! I just figured out how to add URL addresses as RSS feeds. I now subscribe to the Times Free Press news and prep sports news. I'm patting myself on the back. Okay, now I've just added the "Morning Edition" podcast. This is pretty cool stuff! I may get brave enough (later - time's almost up) to search out some more things to add.
I guess the next step then will be how to share. Later....

Week 3 - Thing 7

I did a bit of exploring during our "petting zoo" inservice. Took a look at BigHugeLabs. I think I will be going back to that one again. Also, I did the Theda Fox pic as a movie poster at Flickr Mashups. both of these have a lot to offer, so they might be truly useful as well as fun. I'm not sure yet how relative they will as educational tools, but I can see using them in presentations and projects from time to time.

Week 3 - Thing 5 - More Flickr pics

Gatlinburg - Feb. 08
I took this pic last Feb. It looks like something on a greeting card or postcard, but it was just the scenery as we drove through the park. Totally cool!

Week 3 - Thing 6 - Flickr picture

What a picture! Such a diva! This is a picture I already had that I enhanced and added to Flickr.
This technology stuff is fun

Week 2 - Thing 4 - Get Registered

Just so I don't leave out a step - I did get my blog registered with the "Resourceress". Now you can track me on the web.

Week 3 - Thing 5 - Flickr

Well I set up an account with Flickr and posted my first pic. I got this one from my computer, and next I will try to post a Flickr image and see how that works. I also intend to explore Picassa and Bighugelabs to see what they have to offer.
I feel very "inadequate" with all of this, still. Nevertheless, I march on - Bring on the uncharted territory!

Week1 - Thing 1

I forgot to post this earlier, but thanks to our "virtual" cheerleaders for getting us off to a great start! Also, many thanks to "her highness" for providing our kick-off breakfast. Yum!

Week 2 - Thing 4 - Register the blog

Since this blog is a record of my progress (along with other items, once I feel a bit more proficient) I have now sent my address to her highness so that this thing can be registered. Woo Hoo!

Week 2 - Thing 3 - Creating an avatar

I'm disappointed - no shades of gray hair for my avatar. Nevertheless, "THE look" now has a face! I'm still working on importing the large avatar but the internet gods have evidently decided I've reached my quota of accomplishments for today since I've been unsuccessful - even with the expert assistance of the "resourceress".
Furthermore, what's up with Google going Japanese all of a sudden?

Week 2 - Thing 2 - a new post

Well - how high can one person's frustration levels rise in a day? Pretty high! But, it's all good. This is my second post, not bad for a neophyte blogger. I have even created an avatar! Check out the tiny pic and see if you can recognize me.

Week 2 - Thing 1 - Blog Setup

Thanks to my virtual cheerleaders I now have an official blog! A couple of problems along the way - cookies that didn't fit; email address that wasn't accepted; blog title that was not available; low creativity level at 9:00 AM.
Nevertheless, with the guidance of the resourceress and her sidekick I waded through all of the negativity and prevailed. So, now I have a blog. Tasks 3 and 4 complete!

Talk to me!
